Cricket and Community: A Shared Passion Across South Asia

Cricket is more than just a sport in South Asia — it’s a community celebration. In Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, neighborhood matches bring people together regardless of age or background.

Street cricket, played with makeshift bats and taped tennis balls, has produced some of the region’s most talented players. These community games also strengthen local bonds, with entire neighborhoods coming together to cheer their teams.

Cricket at the community level represents unity, resilience, and joy — values deeply rooted in the Muslim world.
